The Scholarship Program in India is designed to encourage excellence among the poor children who excel academically but need financial assistance to attend college. The program has been executed through more than 35 centers currently operating throughout India. The India Scholarship program form an important element of NorthSouth’s key missions of Education, Excellence, and Empathy. Since its inception, more than 20,000 scholarships have been provided to the deserving college aspirants and NorthSouth can say with confidence that it helped lift many families out of poverty.
Why do we choose to talk to you today?
- NorthSouth has set an ambitious target to increase the number of scholarships from the current range of 2,000 per year to 3,500 a year over the next 3 years.
- An analysis of the chapters in India distributing the scholarships has revealed that some States have not been able to distribute any scholarships. These States include Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, and Jharkhand. We need to work harder to serve in these important and populous states.
We need your help to fulfill the above two ambitious goals. How can you help?
You can help by participating in any of the following different ways:
- Do you know a family member or a friend who can volunteer to represent NorthSouth in any of the states indicated above as a Chapter Coordinator? They can help identify eligible and deserving scholarship recipients by contacting colleges, high schools or individual students in and around the area where the person resides. The volunteer should be service oriented, self-motivated, work for the cause and have the time. See India Scholarships General Info and Scholarships Guidelines for more information.
- If you know anyone in the above states or anywhere else in India who may be eligible and in need of financial aid (scholarship to attend college), direct them to apply here.
- You can adopt one of the existing centers and help NorthSouth’s goal to increase the number of scholarships distributed. Click here for information about current chapters in India.
