Apply for the 2022 TechWomen program

Application deadline: May 5, 2021.
TechWomen is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is managed by the Institute of International Education.

TechWomen empowers and connects the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by providing them access and opportunity to advance their careers and become role models for women and girls in their communities. The program partners with innovative companies in the San Francisco Bay Area to host emerging women leaders, providing them a unique opportunity for mentorship, professional growth, and cultural exchange. Participants come from 21 countries in Africa, Central and South Asia and the Middle East and are recognized for their achievements and potential to excel in STEM fields.

In 2022, 113 emerging women leaders will participate in the TechWomen program, joining more than 800 program alumnae in creating global impact. In a sector with the potential to lift more than half a billion people in emerging markets out of poverty over the next decade, TechWomen is enhancing access for women around the globe.
The Program
During the program, participants are introduced to innovative technologies, meet local changemakers and participate in professional exchange at leading Bay Area companies. AlongsideTechWomen’s community of mentors, participants collaborate with their country cohorts to devise an action plan that addresses a socio-economic need in their home community. TechWomen fellows have gone on to leverage their newfound skills and networks, establishing leading tech companies, founding social enterprises, and bringing STEM-based education initiatives to their home communities and beyond.
