Pathways Internships provide opportunities for vocational and technical, undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to gain work experience while pursuing their education. This Internship announcement will post to USAJobs on Monday, October 4th. Here’s the direct link:

Who May Apply?

Students who are currently enrolled in an accredited, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree of certificate.

Position Duration

Internship appointments is based on continued need/funds for the position and the student’s continued compliance in the Pathways Internship Program. This is a developmental program while interns complete their education. After successful completion of the Program, interns may be non-competitively converted to a term (not-to-exceed one to four years) or permanent appointment in the competitive service.

Student Trainee (Administrative Support, GS-0399-1/2/3/4/5/7 (Year-Round).

Student Trainee (Science Support,  GS-0499/0699/0899/1399-4/7 (Year-Round).

Schedules

Interns may work full-time or part-time schedules. Intermittent work schedules are not allowed.

Announcement Notes

Please be advised that due to the popularity of the Pathways Program, FDA historically receives large volumes of applications.  As a result, the Office of Talent Solutions (OTS) is limiting the receipt of complete applications to the first 100.  If the 100 complete applications are received before the scheduled closing date, the vacancy announcement will be removed on the date the limit is met and no additional applications will be accepted. Therefore, interested applicants should apply on the day the announcement opens to ensure applicants meet the cut-off.

Key Requirements

  • Candidates must be at least 16 years of age
  • U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident
  • Cumulative 2.8 GPA or better
  • Candidates must submit school transcript
  • Candidates must submit proof of current enrollment or acceptance for enrollment
  • Background security investigation required
  • All application materials must be received by the closing date
